Today is the last day of school for Lincoln Public Schools.
Most high school students will take their last finals today, while elementary and middle school students will wrap up projects, turn in homework and textbooks, and bid farewell – even if only for a short while – to teachers and friends.
Teachers and principals know they must be flexible in setting up plans for any class, and this morning’s rain showers will test that notion. Most outdoor activities will be moved inside in the morning, but celebrations of a successful school year will continue.
This year, all six graduation ceremonies will be held on Sunday, with three at Pinnacle Bank Arena and three at Pershing Center.
With 3,738 runners, the 2013 Pumpkin Run is the biggest ever, beating last year’s record of 3,457. The course was run in beautiful Pioneers Park, located on the southwest edge of Lincoln. This one-mile course runs over gentle, grass-covered rolling hills. Pioneers Park is the home cross country course for the University of Nebraska, Nebraska Wesleyan University and all Lincoln area high schools.
Tonight is the first night of parent / teacher conferences at Demo School. We look forward to sharing with you our experiences with your children!
